A Surprise Well Worth The Secrets

MiscellaneousNovember 19th, 2007Comments Off

Over the last nine months or so, our family (and friends of our family) had been keeping a big secret. This was the “over the hill” year for my mother and my father wanted to do something that she wouldn’t soon forget.

When the idea of a surprise party was quickly shot down, my father decided to think bigger (and inherently more complicated). Bigger … in the way of a cruise ship big …

So for the last nine months, we have all lied and snuck around, getting our passports, packing clothes and making all of the last minute arrangements for something we hoped would go off without a hitch!

Finally, D-Day had arrived and little did my mother know, we all stayed in the same hotel as my parents the night before boarding the ship. The finally boarded and we followed about two hours behind them. With a couple sneaky calls, we secretly found my parents and decided to surprise my mom … not once … but twice. We sent out the friends of the family and she was excited to see them onboard. As she was still in a bit of amazement, we struck again …

Needless to say, all of the secrets we kept and the lies we told over the last nine months were well worth the reaction we got:

Later on that night (sometime around dinner), we think the reality finally started to set in! Over the next week, we enjoyed incredible food, service and excursions that let us see things like never before! Here are just a few of the shots we took during our week long vacation on the high seas!

This floating city (the ship) was so big that no matter where I stood here in Key West, I couldn’t get the entire ship in the view finder at once! Wish I had a wide angle and my DSLR!

As far south in the continental US as we could go!

High Point Soccer: Lady Bombers

Sports And EventsNovember 4th, 2007Comments Off

As the season began to wrap up, we went out to cover one of the last games for the Lady Bombers and the High Point Soccer club. With the sun barely making it through the clouds and the wind dropping the temperature by a few degrees, we tried to stay warm and caught a couple great shots of the Ladys in action!

A Battle Between The Best

Sports And EventsNovember 4th, 2007Comments Off

Last night, we followed the Minisink Valley Warrior football team all the way to Dietz Stadium in Kingston New York to watch a battle between two of the best, unbeaten teams around. The crowds on either side sounded twice as big as they really were which created an energy you could just feel! This was more than just a game for them!

As the teams took the field and the night wore on, everyone played their heart out! In the end, unfortunately, it was Minisink who did not make it.

We’ve had the pleasure of following these guys from Day 1 and are upset ourselves that they didn’t make it to the next round. However, with our new equipment, we were able to capture a bunch of great images for them to enjoy until next season rolls around! Good Job Minisink Valley Warriors!

You have to love B&H Photography in New York City …

I ordered the 70-200mm 2.8L earlier this week after a bad experience with FotoConnection.Com. B&H promised that it would be here in time for our game between Minisink and Monroe-Woodbury tomorrow and just a few moments ago, UPS stopped by and dropped it off!

Now it is time to get ready for the big Section IX tomorrow night!

Our New Baby (Mark III)

MiscellaneousNovember 1st, 2007Comments Off

Just the other day, the latest addition to our family was delivered. This little bundle of joy will never need to be changed and will never kick and scream!

Our latest edition is not a child but rather the new Canon 1D Mark III digital camera!

Unbelievable is the only way to describe it. At 10 frames per second, this amazing piece of equipment doesn’t miss a single shot! We’ve tested it around the office but cannot wait to try it out at this weekend’s Section IX game between the Minisink Valley Warriors and Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders in Kingston NY!

We’re just keeping our fingers crossed that the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L comes in soon!
