Last weekend, with Tropical Storm Bill approaching, we set out to photograph the beautiful wedding of our Balloon Ride winners, Kimberly and Rob!
As we arrived at Kimberly’s house, Myrna Burgos, the makeup artist, was putting the final touches on Kim’s mom, so we took a few minutes and scouted around for some good locations to take shots of Kimberly and the girls. I have to say that the house was a photographer’s dream! It had beautiful, natural light coming in everywhere, furniture and walls with elegant patterns and mirrors in all of the right places! We used almost every thing that we found in our shots! When we were done with everyone, we headed out just ahead of the limos and made our way to the church in Highland Lakes New Jersey.
After the ceremony, we followed the bridal party and parents up to the Highland Lakes Country Club for some shots in the park and along the waters edge. Both Loretta and I watched some really dark clouds moving in as we photographed the girls, guys and group together. As we prepped for our final shot, I felt a few drops hit my neck. Two clicks later, the skies opened up and it poured! Luckily, the limo drivers were close by with an umbrella …
On our way down to the Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph New Jersey, it rained so hard that we could barely see where we were going! Luckily, we got all of the shots we needed just before it started – so Loretta and I were happy!
The rest of the night was perfect as well. The cocktail hour for the guests featured a 50’s era Burgers and Fries diner as well as a huge ice carving of the Staten Island ferry – the place where Kimberly and Rob first met. They even had the entire Meadow Wood Manor to themselves – which enabled us to photograph anywhere we wanted!
As the night went on, we pulled Kimberly and Rob out for a brief few minutes here and there so we could grab some extra shots and before we knew it, the night was already over! Here are some sneak peek shots from their wedding!
The final part of our little mini series covers the wedding between Laurel and Patrick – a fun loving couple who has also been together for what seems like an eternity! As you might remember, we did an engagement session for them for them back in July …
Because their wedding was taking place a bit earlier in the day, we headed out early Sunday morning to meet up with the bride in Wayne New Jersey to provide some coverage of her and the rest of the bridal party getting ready before the ceremony. From the hair to the makeup, we snapped shots of it all as Laurel and Patrick are very similar to us – they love photographs and capturing those little details!
Since we would also be covering the wedding and reception via video as well, Sean (my brother and trusted videographer) decided to tag along a bit early so he could add some of his own style to our photographs before he was needed behind the video lens. He added his own views to our shots and helped get the bride, groom and anyone else positioned for some of our shots.
As Laurel finished up and headed over to the Tides in Haledon, Sean and I went down the hallway of the hotel to meet up with Patrick and his groomsmen. Though a bit nervous for the big day ahead, Patrick was ready to get married more than any groom I’ve met before. We were able to translate that energy into some great shots of Patrick in the room and in the nearby elevator (which I think we broke).
Once we were all set, Sean and I headed out for the Tides to capture Laurel in the final stages before the ceremony. Unfortunately, we missed a turn and took the long way around. After a few sweaty moments of not knowing where we were or where we were going, we finally found the right road and made a dash for the Tides.
The rest of the day went extremely smooth and we captured some incredible shots of this amazing couple. After a great cocktail hour, a few drinks and a very good DJ and MC … nearly everyone at the reception was jammed onto the dance floor having the time of their lives.
As the night finally wound down, we all looked at each other and couldn’t believe how fast the day had gone. Here is a sneak peek from one very fun wedding …
